DRIVING IN MEXICO/BUS/AIRPORT
Traveling in Mexico can
be interesting but fun. I would highly recommend driving during the daylight hours due to the lack of yellow dividers on the
road, poor lighting, huge potholes, and loose livestock can make driving at night very dangerous. Random acts have occured
at night when a vehicle has broken down.
Vehicles with hazard lights flashing means to use caution a wreck most likley
has occured up ahead. For vehicles in front of you with a blinker flashing can indicate they are turning or an invitation
to pass them, use caution.
From Hidalgo to Colombia Bridge-Destination U.S.A
From the split on Hwy 53 located
at the Pemex station in Hidalgo, drive for approx 12 miles till you see the Hwy 40 bridge, continue under the bridge and turn
left onto Hwy 40 pay approx 10-12 pesos at the toll booth. Continue for about 3.5 miles, you will see a sign that reads NVO.
Laredo 187 KM take that exit and make a right hand loop onto HWY 85. You will see signs up ahead that read Libre (free) and
Cuota (charge) I would suggest the Cuota, this road will ver to your left for appox 50 miles till you have to pay $167.00
pesos-$17.00 U.S dollars, charges can vary from time to time (charges will be listed) At this location you can eat and refuel
if needed. I always make an effort to eat at El Rancho the food is excellent as well as the atmosphere. From the toll way
to the Aduana De Nuevo Laredo check point is approx 60 miles. I would have all occupants of the vehicle prepare to show their
visa, the driver will need the paper which had the hologram on hand. From the Aduana Migration check point to the turn off
is 1 mile. Continue past the check point till you see the red radio towers on the right hand side of the road and a sign by
the bridge-exit that reads Puente inter INT.III Colombia, at this point exit and ver left onto the loop of the bridge heading
west and then south for approx 20 miles. At the end of the 20 miles you will see signs that read Piederas Negras 2 and signs
that will direct you to the Colombia bridge, from the left hand turn to the colombia bridge is 14 miles. Make sure you have
$20.00 pesos for the Mexican bridge fee.

*MEXICAN
INSURANCE is not mandatory but if you get into a wreck in Mexico it can become mandatory quick!!! Not having insurance could
result in many problemas with the possiblity of going to jail. It's worth having the (AAA Mexican insurance) it gives you
security. The insurance pays for collisions, theft, medical, and bail. If your vehicle breaks down the insurance will pay
for towing and hotel for up to three nights. The cost of the vehicle insurance will depend on the blue book price of your
truck or car. If your vehicle is worth $20,000 opposed to $5,000 then your insurance will be less, plus the more days you
get, less the cost per day. Most large cities that border Mexico have triple AAA insurance WWW.AAA.COM

Autopista (Toll
Road) Cuota-to Charge vs Libre-Free
Driving in Mexico can be fun or stressful. It's nothing like the states, in
most large cities the flow of traffic is always at a constant flow. "Mexicans love their horns and jalapenos" I have found
the libre (free) to be ruff on the vehicle due to potholes and 18-wheelers trying to pass each other. The Autopista Hwy 85
cuota (to charge) can be costly $17.00-$22.00 U.S dollars, it's worth every penny. The toll road will save you time, wear
and tear on your vehicle. The autopista provides clean roads and road side assistance we needed.
